Can Material Be Billed In Addition To Hours?
Via Sales/Projects, you can bill the recorded time entries, meaning you can generate an invoice based on the registered hours. This process is described in detail in the following guide https://atlanto.ch/en/faqs/instructions-for-project-time-entries/.
In many companies—for example, in landscaping—both labour hours and materials are billed together. Often, an employee on-site must record both the hours worked and the materials used. The invoice is then created and sent by administrative staff.
In Atlanto, unlike with time entries, it is not possible to generate an invoice directly from the material used. Instead, the materials must be added manually as invoice line items.
We recommend two workarounds:
Notes in time entries
You can use the Notes field within time entries. Employees can enter the materials used in addition to the recorded hours. This allows office staff to see that material was consumed and to manually add it to the invoice during invoice creation.

On the invoice, select “Add item” and choose the material from your product catalogue in Atlanto.
If you also want to record the costs of the entered material (e.g., for post-calculation), you can do so in the Costs tab of the project.
Job report (Regie report)
If an employee has, for example, a repair assignment and needs to record both hours and used materials, we recommend creating a separate document. This can be, for instance, the quotation or the order confirmation.
Using a tablet (not supported on mobile phones), the employee selects the project and creates a new quotation. He or she then adds the required items from the product catalogue, including a line item for labour time. Once everything is entered, the quotation can be saved.
The office staff can then open the project, view the quotation, and create an invoice directly from it before sending it to the customer.
The advantage of this method is that the employee on-site is practically preparing the invoice already during the job reporting process.
